Region's housing deficit hits 45 percent

Central America's housing deficit has reached at least 45 percent, according to the Inter-American Development Bank.
The figure surpasses Latin America's 45 percent and the Caribbean's 37 percent.
Forty-four percent of the region's population lives in poverty, making it difficult to gain access to credit and cover basic needs, according to the World Bank.
