Remittances to El Salvador up 8 percent from January

Remittances to El Salvador reached $2.8 billion from January to August this year, according to the country's central reserve bank.
The figure is 8.1 percent higher than for the same period last year.
The increase is due to continued signs of improvement in the U.S. economy.
