Russia to cooperate in Nicaragua Canal

Russia is seeking to participate in Nicaragua's Grand Interoceanic Canal project.

"We've spoken to our Nicaraguan colleagues and we are looking for ways in which we can cooperate on the project," Russian deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

The Nicaraguan government expects construction of the $40-billion canal to begin late this year, and end by 2019.
