Friday, February 28, 2014

Spanish construction firm Sacyr said it will sign an agreement next week to continue work on the Panama Canal expansion, Sacyr president Manuel Manrique said.

Manrique added that the agreement between the Sacyr-led consortium GUPC and the Canal authority, ACP, is "satisfactory for both parts and will allow for the work to be completed in the least amount of time possible."

According to the agreement, the construction of the new set of locks should be finished by December 2015, six months later than the most recent date announced by GUPC and 15 months later than the original contract schedule.
