Some 400 Salvadoran companies have together invested $360 million last year in corporate social responsibility, CSR, according to Fundemas, a local foundation for corporate social action.
Most of the investment went towards health, culture, education, sports and criminal rehabilitation programs.
"It's a nice surprise to see how the private sector is investing in corporate social responsibility in the communities," said Fundemas board member Jaime Guevara.
