San Jose: sixth most visited city in Latin America

With 1.5 million international visitors last year, Costa Rica’s capital with was the sixth most visited city in Latin America, according to a MasterCard report, finishing ahead of Rio de Janeiro and Bogota.

In terms of amounts spent by visitors, San José finished eighth.

No other Central American city was included in the report.

London leads a ranking of 132 cities with over 18 million visitors, while Quito finished last place 700,000 (figures in brackets indicate the number of visitors in millions, in the six top destinations in Latin America).
