Seafood earns Central America $1.9 billion in exports a year. Main markets are the United States, Europe and Asia

Central America currently exports some 550,000 metric tons of fish and seafood a year, said Mario González Recinos, head of the Central American Fisheries Office.
Earnings from the exports are some $1.9 billion, a major contributor to the region’s economy. he added.
The main buyers of Central American seafood are the United States, Europe and, increasingly, Asia.
