Sewing in El Salvador

Monday, August 27, 2018

El Salvador is an option for garment and textile makers, who are concerned about investing in Nicaragua.

Wages in El Salvador are competitive with those in Guatemala and Honduras, which have significant garment production.

Salvadoran garment operations include cutting, sewing and dyeing of cotton, knitwear and synthetics.

A few hours by air from major North American markets, Salvadaron producers can often fill orders in less time their Asian competitors.

Total garment and textile exports in 2018 are expected to reach $2.3 billion, an increase of 6% over last year.

North America buys 75% of Salvadoran garment exports.
