Tuesday, November 6, 2018

The emerging trade war between the United States and China presents an opportunity for Mexico, according to a Citibanamex report published yesterday. At the same time representatives of about 1,000 Chine firms are visiting a Mexico City forum in a bid to reach accords with local investors.

Citibanamex, a Mexican unit of Citicorp, said that the potential for Mexican products in the Chinese market could be as much as $125 billion, about two fifths as much of Mexico's exports to China last year.

The forum that will be attended by representatives of Chinese companies was organized by the Zhonghua business community in Mexico. Many of the companies offer household goods and office fittings but there are others from the auto and high-tech industries.
