Slim to benefit from post-earthquake rebuilding of Mexico City
Mexican telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helú has not only been an enthusiastic fundraiser to assist with the rebuilding of Mexico City in the wake of recent powerful earthquakes. Some of his companies also appear earmarked to benefit from the massive rebuilding effort.
At a press conference in Mexico City on September 26 to announce a comprehensive recovery plan, Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said that his government had reached an agreement with Mexico's Real-Estate Development Association, an umbrella organization formed by Mexico's leading real-estate developers. Mancera's plan was published the same day in Mexico City's Official Gazette.
