Spain to donate $31 million to Nicaraguan potable water and sanitation projects

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Spain’s international aid agency is to provide $31 million for a program to provide potable water and sanitation for 250,000 inhabitants of two Nicaraguan cities.

Coverage of potable water is to be increased in Bilwi, capital of the North Atlantic autonomous region –– the poorest zone of the country -- while sanitation is being provided in Masaya in the south.

Spain has so far provided $86 million for six water projects in Nicaragua.
