Spanish law firm acquires regional practice
With the goal of becoming Latin America’s largest law firm, Madrid-based ECIJA Abogados has acquired Expertis Legal, including 17 partners and 81 associates in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
Regional operations will be led by Costa Rica’s Mauricio Paris, who has experience in dispute resolution, data protection and privacy, startups, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Spanish firm will provide operating systems and software, while each country will determine day-to-day management and local development strategy.
ECIJA has 56 partners and more than 280 professionals in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza, Lisbon, Miami, and Santiago de Chile.
ECIJA's portfolio includes Google, Yahoo, BBVA, Disney, Mitsubishi, and Telefonica.
The firm was founded in 1997 as a specialist in technology, intellectual property and media.
