Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Record prices of coffee in world markets have encouraged Honduran producers to grow special varieties that could generate $100 million a year in exports.
The premiums on such coffees include those of the Rainforest Alliance, which earns $8 to $20 extra per bag, while organic coffee achieves even more.
During the last crop cycle, organic coffee earned $30 extra, but currently the premium is $50.
