Standard Gold inks first carbon-stripping contract with Central American miner

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Standard Gold said it has secured a contract with an undisclosed mining company in Central America to process gold from activated carbon.

Delivery of the first tonnage of the carbon for stripping is expected to begin this month. The contract will entail processing of the carbon on a weekly basis.

Activated carbon, also called activated charcoal, is a form of carbon that has been processed to make it extremely porous, therefore having a very large surface area available for absorption and chemical reactions.
