Standard & Poor's optimistic about Panama Canal

Financial services firm Standard & Poor’s gave an A- to the Panama Canal’s corporate credit and long-term debt ratings.

The rating comes a month after the inauguration of the expanded waterway.

“We expect to see the Canal operator maintain its exceptionally competitive position, as it is the best option in terms of prices and time-saving for commercial shipping routes between America, Asia and Europe,” S&P said in its report.
