State salaries increase Costa Rica's fiscal gap

One of the factors that cause some countries to meet their spending requirements is that the tax take is low, often because of evasion.

However, the other factor is the government itself, as in Costa Rica’s case, where officials are paid much better than their counterparts in the private sector.
