Strong currency undermines Costa Rica’s ability to compete

In recent years, Costa Rica has lost 25 percent of its competitivity by comparison with the exchange rate of its competitors in tourism and other sectors.

Countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru have reduced the value of their currencies, so reducing Costa Rica’s ability to compete in areas such as industrial investment and tourism.
