Taiwan helps development of pottery in Honduras
Most of Taiwan's assistance programs for other countries focus on agriculture and medical care, but a project between a government-commissioned agency and diplomatic ally Honduras is instead helping local people establish a creative and culture-focused pottery industry.
Under the two-year project that began last year, a team from the Taipei-based Corporate Synergy Development Center has been working closely with pottery artists in the Central American country's town of Valle de Angeles.
Although residents in the town have been making art work from clay for many years, their products tend to be fragile and porous, said Laurencio Chen, a consultant with the center, who is responsible for the project.
