Taiwan increases demand for Honduran sugar

Wednesday, October 29, 2014

Honduran sugar farmers will benefit from an increase in demand for the product from Taiwan, said Carlos Melara, director of the Honduran sugar producers' association.

"Taiwan is a new market to which we have exported some 50,000 metric tons. Taiwan is happy with the quality of Honduran sugar and are increasingly demanding more," he added.

Honduras hopes to produce some 12 million metric tons of sugar during the new harvest that begins in November.
