Taiwan leader heads for Central America today

President Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan was departing Sunday on a seven-day visit to two of Taiwan's diplomatic allies in Central America, his last overseas trip before leaving office in May.

Ma is scheduled to arrive in Guatemala today after a transit stop in the U.S. city of Houston. Then on March 16, he will head to Belize.
