Taiwan president visits Nicaragua on regional swing

Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou embarked on an eight-day state visit to the island’s diplomatic allies in Central America and the Caribbean region Saturday, the 11th of its kind since he was first elected in 2008.

Ma will make a stopover in Boston on his way to the Dominican Republic and transit in Los Angeles on his way back after visiting Haiti and Nicaragua. He is scheduled to arrive home on July 18.
