Telefonica and America Movil pay total of $165 million for Costa Rica permits

Telefonica, the Spanish telecom, handed over a cheque in the amount of $95 million for the concession to operate its cellular network in Costa Rica.

Mexico’s America Movil, did so last Thursday, paying $70 million for its license. Following the payment by Telefonica, the government of Costa Rica introduced its new national broadband strategy, which aims to provide services to even the most remote areas of the country.
