Thanks to last year's market opening, Costa Rica catches up fast in mobile phones

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Costa Rica has managed to catch up with the rest of Central America in mobile phone technology.

After the government opened the market last year, the number of cellular phones has grown to the point where there is now one for each person on average. Costa Ricans no longer have to line up to access this service, as they did in the days of the State monopoly.

In addition, access to broadband is greater, placing Costa Rica at the top of Central America's connection rates.
