The natural gas revolution is right here in Central America

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

The international revolution of natural gas — a fuel that is cheap, clean and very dependable — has arrived in Central America.

The first load of liquefied natural gas, better known as LNG, has been delivered to an AES power plant in the province of Colón, on the banks of the Panama Canal.

Meanwhile Salvadoran company Energía del Pacífico just announced a similar project in Acajutla, which is due to come on stream within a couple of years.

Both schemes cost some $1 billion each and generate about 350 MW.
