Thirty-three power companies enter tender for 800 megawatts in Guatemala

Guatemala's power industry met its expectations. Thirty-three bids were placed for the 800 megawatts on offer for the nation's three distributors.

The exact number of megawatts to be allocated is not yet clear because it depends on the amount available from renewable sources, but 60 percent of the bids came from renewable sources.

Bidders included this offering biomass, coal, wind and hydroelectricity.
