Three leading phone companies fight for government’s five-year contract

Three of the leading phone companies in Panama are bidding for a new five-year contract to sell the government telephone and Internet service, as well as a data center.
 
The bids vary widely in economic terms, but the terms of the tender include 45 percent of the points to be allotted to the technical proposals.
the lowest bid came from Telecarrier in alliance with Cable Onda at $29-6 million. Cable & Wireless offered $36.8 million and Spain’s Telefónica $60.4 million.
