Tourist arrivals nearly double in Panama

The number of visitors who arrived in Panama nearly doubled, to 1.2 million, in the first half of this year, compared with the same period of 2010.\

Spending by the tourists came to $909 million, an increase of 10.3 percent.\
\
Salomón Shamah, head of the Tourism Authority, reckons that income from tourism will reach a record $2 billion this year.\
