Friday, July 23, 2010

Costa Rica's Tourism Board expects to reach two million visitors for 2010. The optimism is based on the 3.96 percent increase in tourism the first half of this year as compared to the same period in 2009.

The number of tourist arrivals from January to June of this year was 1.12 million. By contrast, during the first half of 2009, 1.02 million were recorded.

Despite the increase in tourist arrivals, however, the average hotel occupancy has averaged 60 percent.
