Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Only a small fraction of the people and businesses in Honduras pay taxes to the state, said Enrique Castellón the nation’s executive director of Revenue.

"Those who actually pay taxes make up about 1.9 percent of the economically active population. It is imperative that the country expand its base of contributors in order to ensure greater justice with regard to tax payments," he said

According to a recent report by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, Honduras has the highest rate of tax evasion in Latin America.
