Two top investment projects for Honduras

Monday, December 10, 2012

Honduras will start the new year with two investment projects, after the government announced tenders in the telecommunications and infrastructure sectors.

The first tender is for a road known as the Corredor Turístico, requiring an investment of $100 million. The winner of the bidding process was Cash, Canal Seco, a construction group with investors from Colombia, Panama and Honduras.

State-owned telecoms company Hondutel will offer 49 percent of its shares to form Movitelh, a public-private company which would compete with the two other private cellular phone service providers, Claro, subsidiary of Mexico's América Móvil, and Tigo, headquartered in Luxembourg.
