US-China trade spat 'could provide a boost for Mexico'

Monday, October 22, 2018

Mexico ought to take advantage of the trade spat between the United States and China, said Manuel Herrera, president of the Latin American Association of Industrialists. "This is a situation in which Mexico's main trade partner is fighting with its biggest rival," Herrera said. "That amounts to a great opportunity."

Mexican companies, Herrera added, are undergoing a "fourth industrial revolution" where great attention must be made to the development of talent that can attend to the needs of global corporations.

Investment, both public and private, must be raised to 25 percent of GDP in order to meet the needs of the trade accords with both Europe and North America, Herrera said.
