US gold mine raided in Guatemala

Guatemalan authorities raided a gold and silver mine to the north of the capital. The mine belongs to a US company that has been accused of environmental crimes.

The incident follows a series of campaigns by environmentalists, peasant and indigenous leaders that say they have the right to preserve the nation’s natural resources.
