US protests release of former FARC kidnapper

The United States protested the release of a demobilized FARC guerrilla accused of the 2008 kidnapping of a US businessman kidnapped in Panama City, reported Colombian television network RCN.

US ambassador Kevin Whitaker sent a letter of protest to both President Juan Manuel Santos and the Supreme Court after the release of demobilizing FARC guerrilla Julio Enrique Lemos.
