Varela Hermanos and Carta Vieja toast an excellent year for Panama’s rum

Panama produced 4.18 milllion liters of rum this year through August, a 32 percent increase on the same period of last year.

 

Luis Varela, representative of Varela Hermanos, indicated that his company’s Ron Abuelo has grown rapidly in the domestic market but even faster overseas.

 

Carta Vieja, the nation’s number two rum producer, said that its export strategy has produced success in the US market.
