Violence hits eight in ten companies in Guatemala

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Almost eight of every 10 Guatemalan companies have suffered criminal violence, according to a survey by the Chamber of Commerce.

Some 92 percent of those reviewed said that violence has grown in the last half of the year, against 0.61 percent that violence has reduced.

Three out of 10 company owners say they have been obliged to contract private security guards. At least half have bought alarms and fortified doors and windows.
