Tuesday, June 22, 2010
The Walmart-Mexico supermarket chain and the Lafise financial group joined an agreement that will ensure financing and marketing of fruit and vegetable production by small farmers in Nicaragua.
The alliance will provide $5 million in funds for small farmers whose crops will be sold in Wal-Mart stores.
The farmers have previously no source of financing. The two companies say they will provide a secure and fair-priced marketing system.
