Wal-Mart in China and India learns lessons from Central America

More than 400 growers of fruit and vegetables in Costa Rica belong to a program known as Tierra Fértil, whose main element is a line of credit to back production.

 

Walmart Central America manages the program and representatives of Wal-Mart subsidiaries in India and China have made inspection visits to review the program.

 

The model has already been adopted in the rest of Central America. More than 2,000 producers are currently involved.
