Walmart boosted sales by 10 percent in May

Walmart de México y Centroamérica said its sales rose 10 percent in May compared with the same month a year ago to $2.35 billion.

For the first five months of the year, Walmex said its total sales increased 12.5 percent compared with the same period in 2011, with Mexican sales accounting for 86 percent of that figure.

Walmex said it opened 15 new outlets in Mexico and three in Central America during May, plus two more in Mexico so far in June, bringing its number of stores and restaurants in operation to 2,785 units.
