Walmart brands stores throughout Central America

Monday, May 16, 2011

Walmart’s chain of supermarkets adopted its own brand throughout Central America this weekend.

Hiper Paíz hypermarkets in Guatemala were among those who became Walmarts, as did stores in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras.

US-based Walmart stores entered the Guatemalan market in 2005 after its acquisition of an acquisition by Netherlands-based Royal Ahold of Central America’s two main supermarket chains, La Fragua and Supermercados Unidos.
