Walmex sales surge by 15 percent in September

Retailer Walmart de Mexico, Walmex, said Monday its sales rose 15.3 percent in September from the same month a year earlier, to $2.59 billion, with a marked improvement in comparable-store sales gains in Mexico and growth at its Central American outlets.
Walmex said its total Mexican sales for the month increased 15.7 percent.
On a comparable-store basis, counting only stores that have been in operation for at least a year, sales in the country rose 10 percent versus September 2011, as customers spent 8.6 percent more per visit.
