Where are the tourists? Costa Rican hoteliers bewildered by official figures

If the number of foreign tourists to Costa Rica have increased so far this year, where are they staying during their visit to the country? So ask hoteliers, who claim that no increase in their bookings has been noted since 2009.
The Costa Rican Tourism Institute claims a 10 percent increase in foreign visitors.
Some hoteliers guess that the new tourists who visited Costa Rica during the economic crisis have chosen to return but decided to choose much cheaper accommodation, such as family guest houses.
