Winds spur proposals for new Costa Rican airport

Flights to San José, the Costa Rican capital, have been badly interruped at the Juan Santamaría aiport in recent days by winds carrying dust from the Turrialba volcano.
Indeed the prevailing winds are a long-term problem at Juan Santamaría, which is why an alternative airport is being mooted at Orotina in Alajuela province.
