Women business partners in $50 million Viento Blanco venture for Guatemala's first wind farm

Monday, February 13, 2012

Energy company Viento Blanco will invest $50 million in the construction of Guatemala's first wind farm.

Business partners Concepción Zamora Zardetto and Eugenia Aycicena started the project after discovering a UN study. The study revealed the region of San Vicente Pacaya as a suitable place for a wind farm.

The partners promoted the idea until Spanish consulting firm Aries conducted tests in the area and concluded it has the potential to generate 50.5 megawatts per year.
