Nicaragua depends on much more US oil

Wednesday 02 January, 2019

While Washington's "Nica Act" has imposed severe financial restrictions on the Nicaraguan government, the US is exporting much more oil to the Managua regime to replace the fuel that Venezuela supplied until the collapse of its economy.

From January through September of 2018, Nicaragua imported $422 million of US petroleum products, compared with $299 million in the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, petroleum imports from Venezuela came to $118, a massive drop from the $800 million of the January-September period of the "golden years" of the alliance between Managua and Caracas.
