Return our donated vehicles, the US tells Nicaragua’s Ortega

In what was a direct barb at the government of Daniel Ortega, Laura Dogu, the US ambassador to Nicaragua used her Twitter account to tell the National Police to send back vehicles donated by the US or pay the going price for them.

The US embassy said that “some of the vehicles have been used by the National Police of Nicaragua in order to violently silence people who were peacefully protesting against the government.”

The way the vehicles were used was in breach of the donation accord, it added.
